While early reports immediately following the disaster indicated no fatalities, health authorities later confirmed three deaths due to severe injuries and complications sustained during the event.
On October 14, the CSS reported the first death. A woman from Macaraca, Los Santos suffered serious injuries due to the landslide caused by the earthquake.
The Ministry of Health reported on October 22, that a second woman had died in the hospital in Santiago De Veraguas. She suffered a head injury during the earthquake evacuation.
This past Friday, Oct 30th CSS reported the death of a third person. An elderly woman that had been hospitalized since Oct 14th, and succumbed to her injuries.
