This is How the Parade in Boquete was Experienced Last Year at This Time Celebrating Independence From Spain – This is a Reprint from 2024 with a few Updates

A light rainy morning in the Boquete district welcomed the commemorative events of the 204 years of Panama’s independence from Spain.

The district dressed up for the national holiday, with more than 60 delegations from schools and colleges, as well as 40 independent bands, joining bands from national organizations such as the National Police and the Panama Fire Department, parading in great color to the rhythm of different marches and tunes.

The 2024 mayor of the Boquete district, Eduardo Rodríguez, said that a security and order operation has been deployed to guarantee the free movement of people to enter the area and enjoy the parades.

Boquete Begins Official Ceremonies on Friday November 28th 2025 Under a Light Rain and with a Large Official Attendance

This November 28th, the town of Boquete, in the province of Chiriquí, awoke with that pride that one feels in their chest when they love their country. The main events were led by President José Raúl Mulino, accompanied by several of his ministers, all fully involved in the national celebration that the district strongly promotes every year.

Amid the din of drums, uniformed children, and families gathered on the sidewalks, the president said he hopes more jobs will open up next year and that the economic engine, which so many Panamanians feel has stalled, will be revived. That’s a direct message for those who are looking for ways to survive each day.

The flag bearer for the parade was the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, who also took the opportunity to remind everyone that, in addition to economic development, it is important to nurture the patriotic fervor that unites all Panamanians, regardless of the neighborhood they come from.  The streets of Boquete filled like a swollen river when the delegations set off.

More than 92 schools and independent bands paraded, one after another, demonstrating discipline, culture, and that love for the country that still resonates strongly in the youth.  The parade went on past midnight, with people enduring the cold of Boquete, but enjoying every note, every touch and every flag that passed before them.  Boquete proved once again that when it comes to the homeland, the people come out, come together, and celebrate loudly.
