Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino will travel this Saturday with First Lady Maricel Cohen de Mulino to New York, United States, where he will participate in the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly.  The president will have an agenda that will combine diplomatic meetings, meetings with representatives of the international financial sector, and activities aimed at promoting Panama to investors.  One of the highlights of the visit will be his speech before the UN General Assembly, scheduled for Wednesday, September 23.  The High-Level Week brings together heads of state and government in New York and includes various international meetings. On September 23, the United Nations has scheduled, among other activities, a high-level meeting on climate action and a just transition.

The president’s agenda will also have an economic component.  Mulino will participate in business forums organized by the Council of the Americas (COA) and will hold a meeting with Jane Fraser, CEO of Citigroup.  The meeting will take place at the headquarters of the financial institution, which maintains operations and interests in Panama.  These meetings come at a time when the Panamanian government has placed competitiveness and attracting investment high on its economic agenda. This week, Mulino participated in the National Competitiveness Forum, where he emphasized the need to work with the private sector to strengthen the country’s position.
