Ministry of Health Files Complaint with the DIJ: Don Bosco Health Sub Center Set on Fire

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that a homeless person set fire to the Don Bosco health sub center early Saturday morning, causing structural damage and stealing the electrical wiring from the facility, which is currently undergoing remodeling.  According to the entity, the incident caused damage to the health center’s infrastructure, which could impact the progress of the work being carried out at the site.  In response to what happened, the San Miguelito Regional Health Directorate filed the corresponding complaint with the Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ), so that investigations can be carried out and responsibilities determined.  The Ministry of Health did not provide further details on the amount of damage caused, while the investigations by the competent authorities continue.

The regional director of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) in San Miguelito, Algis Torres, announced that the construction and transformation of the current Don Bosco health subcenter into a modern health center will begin soon, as part of the initiatives to strengthen primary care and prevention in the community.  Torres explained that this project aims to strengthen preventative care and promote a culture of comprehensive care for the entire family in the district. The new center will offer services in general medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, gynecology, pharmacy, and other areas, with the goal of improving access to and the quality of care for residents of the area and surrounding communities.

He also detailed that the existing infrastructure in the Don Bosco sector, located in the Belisario Porras district, will be restored after being vandalized. It will be rehabilitated and upgraded to a health center, incorporating new services and improvements in the quality of care, for the benefit of the population.  The regional director called on residents and nearby communities to take care of the facilities and help ensure the safety of both the health personnel and the equipment that will be serving the community.
