The Carnival operation began on Friday, February 13. The National Police Traffic Operations Directorate began reversing lanes this morning, Carnival Tuesday, for the return of travelers to the capital city. Francisco Castro, deputy director of the National Police, reported that the road reversal began at 6:00 am from the district of San Carlos to La Chorrera, in the province of Panama West.
From the start of the national operation for Carnival on Friday, February 13, until Monday the 16th, more than 140,000 vehicles were recorded moving to the interior of the country. Similarly, Castro announced that by this morning, the return of 70,000 vehicles had already been reported. During the nationwide operation, 77 unaccompanied minors were found. Additionally, 36 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants were located at entry checkpoints for various activities and turned over to the appropriate authorities.
