As a Key Location for its Business, DP World is Betting on Opening Operations in Panama

President José Raúl Mulino held a meeting this Wednesday with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, president of DP World, a world leader in the maritime sector and in integrated supply chain solutions.   The meeting took place within the framework of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.  During the meeting, Sulayem expressed the group’s great interest in establishing themselves in Panama, highlighting the country’s strategic position in the world, enhanced by the Canal and its service to maritime trade.  During the meeting, Sulayem expressed the group’s great interest in establishing themselves in Panama, highlighting the country’s strategic position in the world, enhanced by the Canal and its service to maritime trade. 

The president of DP World indicated that, in principle, the company is exploring opportunities to operate at both ends of the interoceanic waterway.  Among the key points of evaluation, the Colón Free Zone stands out.  For his part, President Mulino stated that his government is open to supporting these types of investments interested in establishing themselves in Panama.   At the same time, the Panamanian president informed the representatives of DP World that there are other points that could be of interest to this business group, such as the Panama-Pacific special area.  He also highlighted other projects being carried out by the Panama Canal Authority, which include two new megaports.
