INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The National FFA Convention & Expo will remain in Indianapolis through at least 2040, as announced Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s start to its 98th National FFA Convention & Expo.
FFA stands for the organization’s former name, Future Farmers of America. FFA is a youth organization dedicated to preparing the next generation for leadership and careers in agriculture.
The decision to extend the convention’s stay in Indianapolis was revealed at a Tuesday kickoff event. The 2025 convention was expected to draw over 71,000 FFA members, advisers, alumni, and supporters from across the nation. Most events are in the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.
The convention has contributed $40 million annually to the Indianapolis area economy.
Cheryl Zimmerman, National FFA Organization executive secretary, in a statement noted Indianapolis’ welcoming nature and high-quality facilities, “helping us create life-changing experiences for students in agricultural education.”
The National FFA Convention & Expo was previously held in Indianapolis from 2006 to 2012 before returning in 2016. Since then, it has consistently been hosted in the city, drawing increasing numbers of attendees each year. This year’s event continues through Saturday.
Chris Gahl, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Visit Indy, expressed appreciation for the renewed commitment, stating, “Keeping the National FFA meeting in Indy continues to be a priority for our city and our entire tourism industry.”
The convention not only serves as a gathering for FFA members but also includes National Days of Service, where participants engage in community service projects around Indianapolis. This year’s convention runs from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1. Upcoming conventions are scheduled for Oct. 21-24, 2026, and Oct. 27-30, 2027.
