DYER, Ind. (WISH) — A 35-year-old man was fatally shot during a domestic dispute in Lake County Sunday, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators believe that sometime after 5 p.m. Sunday, the 35-year-old man was visiting his child and his child’s mother at a residence in the 8600 block of Beall Street. There was a dispute where threats were allegedly made against the woman’s mother.

Investigators believe a 52-year-old man who owns the home and the 35-year-old man were arguing in the street when the 35-year-old man was shot. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The 52-year-old man is being held for questioning. A firearm was recovered at the scene. Investigators stated this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
