INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The completion of a $25 million interior renovation at The Indianapolis Marriott East was celebrated Thursday.
The project modernized 315 of its 497 guest rooms, 90,000 square feet of meeting space, and the public areas at the hotel on the city’s east side at 7202 E. 21st St. Other improvements included a new indoor pool and a refurbished 24-hour fitness center.
Also, the hotel’s restaurant, the Skylight Bistro & Wine Bar, re-imagined its menu, with Executive Chef Manny Hodge adding culinary selections and a specialty cocktail list. The dining and lounge spaces were included in the interior redesign.
Timothy Wagner, the general manager of the hotel, said in a statement, “By bringing in top-tier dining and hospitality options designed to attract visitors and support local business activity, we are strengthening the property’s role as a community pillar.”
People attending Thursday’s celebration included Heather Ford, member relations manager for Indy Chamber, and Democratic City-County Councilor Keith Graves.
The Indianapolis Marriott East opened in 1974, and had a $30 million renovation that was completed in February 2012.
