INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two men are in custody following a police chase and vehicle search that netted almost 40 pounds of narcotics, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Anthony Anderson, 58, and Damon Rowie Jr., 38, were booked into the Marion County jail following Thursday’s events.
The initial stop happened near Burdsal Parkway and Rader Street along the White River. The driver, Rowie Jr., pulled over, and an IMPD K-9 performed an open-air sniff around the vehicle.
Then, during the search, Rowie took off, almost hitting a detective. Officers chased after them, and while in pursuit, IMPD says they watched Rowie throw out a large bag filled with white powder.
Police eventually stopped Rowie using a precision immobilization technique, or PIT, maneuver. IMPD says no officers were hurt, though Rowie did intentionally ram a police car.
Rowie was taken into custody at the scene. Anderson was arrested after officers searched the home connected with the investigation.
Anderson and Rowie face charges of dealing narcotics and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. Rowie faces an additional charge of resisting law enforcement in a vehicle.
During a search of Rowie’s car, IMPD says they located:
- Over 18 pounds of suspected fentanyl.
- Sixteen pounds of suspected meth.
- Almost 2 pounds of cocaine.
- Two handguns.
- $36,000 cash.
- Narcotics dealing items, including a pill press.
