Helen Mirren vows to work with ‘MobLand’ costar Tom Hardy after reports of his firing

Helen Mirren has come forward to extend her unadulterated support to her MobLand co-star Tom Hardy after reports of an on-set clash.

For those unaware, Mirren and Hardy appeared together on the first and second seasons of the Paramount+ thriller series MobLand. However, things took a dark turn for the Peaky Blinders star when reports of his clash with production on the UK set came to light in May 2026, with claims that he would not be part of the third season of the show if it were renewed.

Variety recently conducted an interview with the 80-year-old English actress on Thursday, June 11, where she proclaimed she would continue working with Hardy on MobLand “in a f******* heartbeat.”

Mirren called him “the most amazing actor” with a confession that she loves him.

The Excalibur star said, “Different actors have different processes. I’ve learnt over the years that some people get to things faster. As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there.”

“Tom is a very special person. I think he’s absolutely remarkable. My support of him is genuine and heartfelt,” she stated.

Notably, the beef between Hardy and MobLand’s showrunner, executive producer, and writer, Jez Butterworth, started during the filming of the sophomore season, which got so worse that they had decided to “no longer work together,” and the main reason was the actor’s “chronic lateness to set.”

It is pertinent to mention that a source told the same outlet that Hardy might return to season 3, as he has not been fired and talks about his possible comeback are still underway.

The insider shared, “Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.”

MobLand season 2 will be released in the second half of this year on Paramount+; however, there is no confirmed release date yet.
