GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — WOOD TV8 employees are trading in their laptops and microphones for the day and picking up a hammer and nails instead.
Today the station participates in its annual Founder’s Day of Caring event. The event celebrates Nexstar Media Group’s founding with a day of giving back. Employees across Nexstar’s over 100 stations are asked to spend a portion of their day volunteering.
WOOD TV8 employees will be helping to build a Habitat for Humanity house or spending time at the organization’s ReStore, or volunteering with the AYA Youth Collective preparing snack packs and lunches.
The nonprofits were selected because of their work helping with housing and homelessness, which are issues WOOD TV8 works hard throughout the year to cover and spotlight.
