Trump says US ‘ready to go to war’ as Iran ceasefire deadline approaches

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States is prepared to resume military action against Iran, signalling he is unwilling to extend the current ceasefire as its deadline nears.

Trump warned that time is running out for Tehran to reach an agreement, adding that U.S. forces are “ready to go, militarily” if negotiations fail.

His comments come as diplomatic efforts to revive talks remain uncertain, with no clear breakthrough ahead of the ceasefire’s expiry.

Iran has shown reluctance to engage under mounting pressure, casting doubt over the prospects of a deal and raising the risk of renewed hostilities.

The ceasefire, which paused weeks of conflict, is due to end in the coming days, intensifying concerns of a fresh escalation in the region.
