MUSCAT : A teacher and her three children were killed in a road accident while returning from Dhofar Governorate, leaving the South Al Sharqiyah community in mourning.
According to the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the accident occurred on Saturday in the Nima area after the family’s vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer before overturning.
Police said four Omani citizens from the Wilayat of Shalim and the Hallaniyat Islands died in the crash. Their bodies were airlifted by the Police Aviation Wing to Jalan Bani Bu Ali. Two other people injured in the accident were flown to Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah for treatment.
The victims included the teacher, her son and two daughters. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the education sector, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, former students and residents.
In a statement, Douhat Al Ilm School in Jalan Bani Bu Ali expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing the teacher as one of the institution’s most dedicated and respected educators.
The school said she had devoted more than two decades to teaching, earning the admiration of students and colleagues through her commitment, integrity and compassion.
It described her as an inspiring educator whose influence extended far beyond the classroom, saying she had helped shape the lives of generations of students through her unwavering dedication.
School officials said her passing represents an immense loss for both the institution and the wider educational community, adding that her legacy and values would continue to live on in the many students she taught.
