Muscat – President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Türkiye and his spouse Emine Erdogan arrived on a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the president and his accompanying delegation. When Erdogan’s aircraft touched down at the Royal Airport, His Majesty the Sultan met the guest at the foot of the ramp, welcoming him and wishing him and the accompanying delegation a successful visit and a pleasant stay.
The Honourable Lady Sayyida Ahad Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman, also welcomed the Turkish President and his spouse upon their arrival.
Earlier, when the guest’s aircraft entered the Omani airspace, it was escorted by a squadron of military aircrafts of Royal Air Force of Oman to the Royal Airport to welcome the guest.
Following greetings, His Majesty the Sultan and Erdogan proceeded to the reception hall, passing between two rows of the guard of honour of the Royal Guard of Oman.
After a short stay, the motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan and his guest left the Royal Airport heading to Al Alam Palace for official reception protocols.
Prior to its arrival at Al Alam Palace, the motorcade was welcomed by a group of horse riders to the accompaniment of a mounted military music band.
When the official motorcade arrived at the internal courtyard of Al Alam Palace, the artillery fired a 21-gun salute for the guest, which was followed by the music band of the Royal Guard of Oman welcoming him.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied President Erdogan to the dais of honour where the national anthem of Türkiye was played.
Later, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the Turkish President.
On his turn, Erdogan shook hands with some members of the Royal Family, ministers and military commanders.
Erdogan is being accompanied by an official delegation comprising his son Necmettin Bilal Erdogan, Hakan Fidan, Foreign Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yasar Guler, Minister of Defence, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, Omer Bolat, Minister of Trade, and Dr Muhammet Hakimoğlu, Ambassador of Türkiye to Oman.
