Muscat – The Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) continues to build an advanced academic and training environment that meets international standards, enhancing healthcare quality and expanding global cooperation with leading medical universities and hospitals.
Dr. Saif bin Abdullah al Ya’arubi, Assistant CEO for International Cooperation, highlighted that scholarship programmes are a vital pillar for Oman’s health sector, enabling doctors to train abroad and transfer knowledge, skills, and modern technologies to local institutions.
Since 2009, more than 1,054 specialised medical missions have been completed in over 32 fields, while the Council has signed 85 international cooperation agreements. Currently, around 222 Omani doctors are pursuing advanced training in countries such as Canada, France, the US, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Singapore.
Dr. Ya’arubi affirmed that these efforts support national medical cadres, particularly in rare specialties, and contribute significantly to developing healthcare services across Oman’s hospitals and health centres.
