MUSCAT – In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry said the circulated letter was intended solely for relevant departments within the Ministry to discuss how such a policy could be implemented if it is formally approved.
The Ministry stressed that no mandatory drug testing programme has been introduced and that any future implementation would be carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities, with clear details on the procedures, timeline and scope announced through official channels.
It urged the public not to rely on unofficial information and to follow the Ministry’s official platforms for updates on any policy decisions.
The Ministry of Health said it remains committed to developing a comprehensive health policy framework aimed at preventing the risks associated with psychoactive substance abuse, reducing its prevalence, protecting society and strengthening occupational health and workplace safety standards across Oman.
The Ministry added that implementation mechanisms and phases, if the proposal is adopted, will be announced officially through its communication platforms.
