Oman’s CAA cautions against unverified weather updates circulating online

MUSCAT — Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) warned on Tuesday against the spread of unofficial weather forecasts and alerts, saying inaccurate information circulating online could mislead the public and create confusion.

The authority said it had monitored several entities and personal accounts publishing weather-related predictions that contradict official updates issued on its platforms.

It cautioned that the circulation of unverified or exaggerated information could result in misunderstandings among the public and institutions, particularly during periods of changing weather conditions.

The CAA urged all individuals and organisations to refrain from sharing weather forecasts or warnings unless they are issued by official sources, and called on the public to rely only on information released through its approved channels.

The authority also emphasised the importance of verifying information from credible sources, thanking the public for their cooperation in supporting the broader public interest.
