MUSCAT : Oman’s Environment Authority said on Thursday that air quality levels in Salalah remain within safe limits following a fire that broke out in fuel storage tanks at the Port of Salalah.

In a statement issued on March 12, the authority said it is closely monitoring developments related to the incident and confirmed that current air quality readings in the Wilayat of Salalah are within safe levels.

Residents and interested parties can monitor real-time air quality readings through the “Taqi” environmental monitoring application, the authority added.

As a precautionary measure, the Environment Authority advised residents living near the incident site to wear face masks and keep windows closed. People who suffer from respiratory conditions have also been advised to move to suitable locations if necessary.

The authority urged the public to follow updates through official sources, noting that further clarifications will be issued if required as monitoring continues.
