Oman, Iran reaffirm commitment to regional stability and safe navigation in Strait of Hormuz

Muscat: During a telephone conversation between Oman’s Foreign Minister, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and Iran’s Foreign Minister, Dr Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the two ministers stressed the importance of ensuring the safe and free passage of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.

During the conversation, both ministers affirmed their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation between Oman and Iran across various sectors. They underscored the importance of building on the principles of good neighbourliness and the longstanding historical and cultural ties that connect the two countries and their peoples.

The discussions also touched on recent Iranian-American understandings and their implications for regional security and stability. In this context, the two sides reiterated their countries’ commitment to international law, particularly with regard to ensuring the safe and unhindered passage of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.

The ministers expressed hope that the coming period would witness serious and coordinated efforts by all concerned parties to foster a supportive and sustainable environment for constructive political and diplomatic engagement
