PARIS : The lavish gallery, once home to the French Crown Jewels, welcomed the public back on Wednesday. However, its display cases remain empty after the museum removed the remaining priceless pieces from public view.

The Apollo Gallery drew global attention after thieves stole eight pieces of jewellery valued at around $100 million in a daylight robbery. According to reports, the stolen jewels have still not been recovered, although four suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.

Visitors returning to the gallery described the reopening as a historic moment.

The Louvre is now preparing to move the remaining French Crown Jewels to a secure, windowless exhibition space fitted with enhanced security measures. The move comes as the museum seeks to restore public confidence after one of the most high-profile art and jewellery thefts in recent years.
