Iran rejects claims of missile launch towards Turkish airspace

Tehran – The General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces has formally denied allegations of a missile launch directed at Turkish territory following reports of an aerial interception by NATO defences. In a statement released through the Mehr news agency, Iranian military officials asserted their respect for the sovereignty of Turkiye, describing the nation as a friendly neighbour and dismissing claims of aggressive military action.

The denial follows a report from the Turkish Defence Ministry, which stated that a missile originating from Iran was intercepted after traversing Iraqi and Syrian airspace. While the projectile was successfully downed without resulting in casualties, the incident has heightened regional tensions. President Erdogan confirmed that Turkiye is working closely with NATO allies to maintain national security and has issued clear warnings to prevent further escalations.
