GCC condemns strike on fuel storage tanks at Salalah Port, reaffirms solidarity with Oman

MUSCAT — The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has strongly condemned what he described as the Iranian attack targeting fuel storage tanks at Salalah Port in the Sultanate of Oman, calling it a dangerous escalation and a violation of regional security.

In a statement issued by the GCC General Secretariat, Albudaiwi denounced the strike in the strongest terms, describing it as a “blatant and unacceptable attack” on vital civilian infrastructure.

The GCC chief emphasised the Council’s full solidarity with Oman, stressing that the member states stand firmly with the Sultanate in all measures it takes to safeguard its security, stability, and territorial integrity.

He reiterated the unified position of GCC countries in rejecting and condemning all acts of aggression that threaten the security of Gulf states or target critical facilities that support the wellbeing and safety of citizens and residents.

“The GCC stands united against any actions that undermine the security of member states or threaten the safety of their people and strategic infrastructure,” the statement said.

Albudaiwi warned that such attacks not only endanger critical energy and logistical infrastructure, but also pose wider risks to regional stability, maritime trade routes, and global energy markets, given Oman’s strategic role in regional shipping and fuel supply networks.

The GCC Secretary-General also called for restraint and adherence to international law, urging all parties to avoid further escalation and to prioritise dialogue and diplomatic solutions to preserve stability in the region.
