MUSCAT — India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a special assessment scheme to declare Class 10 results for students across the Middle East, following the cancellation of several board examinations amid ongoing regional tensions.
The board had scrapped the remaining Class 10 examinations on March 5, 2026, after reviewing the situation in countries including Oman, Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Exams conducted before cancellation
CBSE confirmed that examinations held between February 17 and February 28, 2026 were completed successfully. During this period, students appeared for 44 papers, covering six core academic subjects such as Mathematics, English and Science, along with 16 language papers and 22 skill-based subjects.
Assessment formula announced
To ensure fair evaluation, the board has introduced a structured, category-based assessment method depending on the number of exams each student completed:
• Students who appeared for all examinations will be assessed based on their actual performance.
• Those who completed four exams will have their remaining subject marks calculated using the average of their best three subjects.
• Students who appeared for three exams will have missing subjects evaluated based on the average of their best two scores.
• For students who sat only two exams, results will be determined using the average of those two subjects across all remaining papers.
The board said the scheme aims to maintain consistency and fairness while addressing the disruption caused by the conflict, ensuring that students across the region are not academically disadvantaged.
