North Macedonia Prosecutor’s Decision Puts Politically-Sensitive Cases at Risk

North Macedonia’s new Chief Prosecutor, Nenad Saveski, did not wait long after he was appointed last month to make a move that could decide the fate of two of the country’s most politically sensitive cases.

Saveski decided to remove prosecutor Lence Ristoska from the high-profile cases known as ‘Talir 1’ and ‘Talir 2’ – both of which target alleged the illegal financing of the main ruling VMRO DPMNE party.
