Nikoloski: visas for truckers, steel quotas and the CO2 tax are serious problems for our economy

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski said today in an interview that the Government is focused on three serious economic issues – these are the stricter EU regulation for Macedonian truckers, the steel quotas and the plans to tax exports based on how clean is the energy used to make the products.

On the issue of truckers, Nikoloski said that Bulgaria and Greece will keep the looser regulation in place, Switzerland begun to issue visas to Macedonian truckers, and several EU countries have laws allowing long term visas in the works in their parliaments.

These are truly enormous problems – the truckers, the steel quotas adn the CO2 tax. They hit our steel industry, and we are working to exempt the Western Balkan countries from the third party quotas, given that our region is already integrated in the EU free trade system, said Nikoloski.
