The South Korean army will conduct a service-wide inspection of frontline guard operations after reports that machine guns at border outposts facing North Korea were ordered to be unloaded, according to the Defense Ministry.

The ROK army Ground Operations Command will begin inspections with the I Corps, which is responsible for defending the western front, before expanding to all subordinate frontline units, the ministry confirmed to NK News on Thursday.

“The Ground Operations Command’s inspection will cover frontline areas under all frontline corps,” the ministry said.
