South Korea, Ukraine agree to respect North Korean prisoners’ wishes on release

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday agreed to resolve the fate of North Korean prisoners of war in accordance with international law and their personal wishes, according to a Lee spokesman the same day.

Lee met Zelensky in person for the first time as president during the two-day NATO summit in Turkey, where they discussed their countries’ relationship that has grown closer after North Korea began directly supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine.
