North Korea launches short-range ballistic missile toward East Sea: JCS

North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) toward its eastern coast late Thursday, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). 

“At around 5 p.m., our military detected a short-range ballistic missile launched from the Wonsan area of North Korea toward the East Sea,” the JCS said in a message to journalists.

South Korea has “strengthened surveillance and vigilance in preparation for additional launches” and is working with the United States to analyze specifics of the launch, it added.
