Thousands of tickets for Harry Styles’ record-breaking Amsterdam residency are being offloaded at well below face value, with some selling for as little as €50, RTL reported on Friday afternoon.

Styles announced his new album and a world tour in January after a three-year break from music. Amsterdam and London are the only European stops, with the British singer performing 10 consecutive nights at the Johan Cruijff Arena between May 16 and June 5, setting a record for a solo artist at the venue.

The tour uses the “residency” model, popularised in Las Vegas, in which an artist performs multiple nights at a single location rather than travelling from city to city. While this reduces costs and logistics for the artist, it means fans often have to book travel and accommodation to attend, pushing up the overall cost.

When tickets went on sale, demand appeared enormous, with tens of thousands of fans queuing online. Prices on resale sites quickly soared.

Now, however, tickets now flooding onto platforms like TicketSwap at steep discounts, RTL said. Standing tickets originally priced at up to €315 are available from €70, while seats in the first and second tiers are going from just €50.

Music journalist Atze de Vrieze told RTL the initial frenzy had led many fans to panic-buy. “There was a lot of pressure. People bought a ticket just to make sure they could get in,” he said. Many buyers, he said, had also hoped to resell at a profit, but now find themselves unable to recoup what they paid.

De Vrieze said it would seem Harry Styles fans in Europe are not willing to travel to Amsterdam or London. His fans also tend to be younger and have less money to spend, De Vrieze said, pointing that when travel and accommodation are factored in, the total cost can easily exceed a €1,000.
