Simian, a Groningen-based company that owns a number of budget printing brands has warned customers in the Netherlands and Belgium that their personal details may have been stolen in a cyberattack.
In an email to affected customers, the company said attackers may have accessed email addresses and hashed passwords stored in its customer files.
Simian says on its website that it serves around 500,000 customers across its three brands Reclameland, Drukland and Flyerzone.
It has not said how many were affected by the breach, but that only a small number of customers had their credit card details intercepted. Those customers were contacted individually by phone and email, according to ANP.
Simian said it had reported the breach to the Dutch data protection authority AP and filed a report with police. It has brought in a specialist cybersecurity firm to investigate.
The company also said the leak did not originate in its own systems, but at an external service provider.
It confirmed the incident was not connected to the recent breach at CEVA Logistics, the delivery firm whose hack exposed customer data at Bol, De Bijenkorf, Ajax, ING and Ace & Tate.
The attack is the latest in a run of data breaches at Dutch companies, following the CEVA incident and, earlier this year, a mass hack at telecoms provider Odido.
