US deports 80 Nepali nationals

Kathmandu, January 21

The United States has again deported 80 Nepali nationals. The deportees were brought to Kathmandu on Tuesday via a chartered aircraft and handed over to the authorities.

According to Immigration Department spokesperson Tikaram Dhakal, those deported include 79 men and one woman. The individuals were deported for reasons including lack of valid documents, illegal stay, and violations of US immigration laws.

Following their arrival, the deportees were sent to the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau. After questioning, bureau officials handed them over to their families. The bureau has also requested the deportees to file complaints if anyone had sent them to the United States through illegal means.

The United States has been deporting Nepali nationals in phases in recent years.
