Kathmandu, October 9

Security has been tightened in areas around Maitighar and New Baneshwor.

A large number of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel have been deployed in these areas. The Gen-Z group had filed a complaint with the police against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

Following that, the ANNFSU, the student wing of the CPN-UML, also filed a complaint against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and Gen-Z Sudan Gurung.

The police have forwarded Gen-Z’s complaint to a high-level investigation commission, and they are also preparing to send the complaint filed against Balen Shah and Sudan Gurung to the same commission.

Tensions escalated after both sides began filing complaints against each other. 

As a result, a high level of security alert has now been enforced in the Maitighar–Baneshwor area.
