A photo exhibition titled “Stories of Gatlang Women” by photojournalist Keshab Raj Thokar concluded in Kathmandu, portraying the lives and struggles of women from Gatlang village in Rasuwa.

According to a press statement, the exhibition, which began on Monday at Umoja Coffee in New Baneshwor, featured 16 photographs capturing the daily routines of rural women from sunrise to sunset. Organised by the Explore Nepal Network, the exhibition aimed to highlight the resilience, hard work and dignity of women in the Himalayan village.

The event was inaugurated by Nyanjom Tamang, a 39-year-old woman from Gatlang currently working in Kathmandu. She expressed emotional connection upon seeing images of her village, while another attendee, Lhakpa Chhomo Tamang, was also visibly moved.

The statement added that the chairperson of Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality, Buchung Tamang, said the exhibition would contribute to promoting tourism in Gatlang, a key entry point to the Ruby Valley trekking route and a destination along the Tamang Heritage Trail. Cultural expert Amrit Yonjan Tamang shared that the photographs evoked a strong sense of being in the village itself.
