Home Minister Sudan Gurung resigns amid controversy and criticism

Kathmandu, April 22

Home Minister Sudan Gurung has resigned from his position.

Gurung, who was accused of being involved in various share transactions with controversial businessmen, submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen). He has also informed the public about his resignation through social media.

Prime Minister Shah had formed his cabinet on the very day he was appointed. Gurung was appointed as Home Minister on the same day.

Gurung initially gained attention after arresting senior officials in the early days of his tenure, but in recent times, he has become the centre of criticism.

According to high-level sources, Gurung submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Shah following discussions with Rabi Lamichhane, the chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
