LDV targets entry-level bakkie market with new single-cab range

LDV Namibia is preparing to shake up the highly competitive bakkie market with the introduction of an all-new range of single-cab models aimed at budget-conscious businesses and private buyers. Expected to arrive in July, the new single-cab lineup in both 4X4 and 4X2 derivatives will target the entry-level commercial vehicle segment, a market traditionally dominated by more established brands. According to LDV sales executive, Ashley Daniels, the new offering is designed to provide customers with a compelling balance between affordability, capability and operating costs.

Powered by efficient 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines, the new LDV models are expected to deliver the performance required by entrepreneurs, fleet operators and agricultural businesses while maintaining lower fuel consumption and reduced maintenance expenses.

The new range comes at a time when many domestic businesses are seeking ways to reduce operating costs amid rising input prices and ongoing economic pressures. By offering a more affordable alternative in the workhorse segment, LDV is positioning itself to attract customers looking for value without compromising on utility.

“Value for money remains a key consideration for both businesses and individuals, and the new single-cab range has been developed with exactly that in mind,” said Daniels.

While preparing for the arrival of the new models, LDV has also upgraded its existing bakkie and SUV portfolio.

The manufacturer has introduced a significant revamp of its LDV T60 Elite LDV T70 PRO, with one of the most notable improvements being the transition from a six-speed transmission to a more refined eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The upgraded transmission is expected to improve driving comfort, fuel efficiency and overall performance, particularly during long-distance travel and towing applications.

Adding further appeal, LDV is currently offering its LDV T70 Pro 4×4 model at a special price of N$610 000. This package includes several popular accessories that are often added at extra cost by customers, including a tow bar, nudge bar, smash-and-grab window tinting and a canopy.

The refresh extends beyond mechanical enhancements. Inside the cabin of the LDV T70 Pro 4×4, LDV has modernised both the gear selector and infotainment system, giving the vehicle a more contemporary feel and improved user experience.

The combined strategy of introducing affordable entry-level workhorses while simultaneously upgrading premium offerings reflects LDV’s ambition to strengthen its presence across multiple segments of the Namibian market.

With new products arriving and existing models receiving significant upgrades, the brand appears determined to accelerate its growth in a market where value, reliability and practicality remain key purchasing factors.
