The Myanmar Punk – Thailand Tour concert called “Punk Rock Rising: Year End Gig 2025” was held at Yoda’s CNX Gallery in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Dec. 20. Myanmar punk bands The Rebel Riot, and Kulture Shock, as well as British hardcore punk band Cacerolazo, sELFSEx, and Määräys performed.
“Music and culture, especially punk culture, is very important because [it] is a cultural revolution,” said a punk singer from Myanmar who spoke to DVB on the condition of anonymity. The Myanmar Punk – Thailand Tour included shows in Bangkok and Mae Sot, with Chiang Mai being the final stop in its 2025 schedule.
“There’s Burmese, there’s Thais, everyone [is] in unison. [It’s] what brought me here tonight,….support for the people who are suffering in Myanmar,” said Gigi, an attendee at the event. Organizers told DVB that the punk bands plan to visit Myanmar refugee camps in Thailand to provide humanitarian aid and support to those most in need with the funds raised from the concerts.
