Athletes from billiards and snooker, chess, and Muay who won a total of 11 bronze medals at the XXXIII South-East Asia Games returned to Yangon yesterday. The Games, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 9 to 20 December 2025, saw Myanmar athletes compete across several disciplines. In billiards and snooker, Phone Myint Kyaw secured a bronze medal in the men’s individual snooker event. In chess, the women’s team – Su Su Hlaing, Soe Moe Khaing, Myo Myo Thu, May Su Lwin, and May Set Lwin — won bronze in the team competition.
In Muay, Myanmar achieved further success with bronze medals won by Saw Khine Ye Lin in the men’s 54-kilogramme category, Saw A Tit in the men’s 57-kilogramme category, Thang Kwee Shein in the men’s 51-kilogramme category, Tun Min Aung in the men’s 71-kilogramme category, Yay Chan in the men’s 63.5-kilogramme category, Saw Myat Moe in the men’s 45-kilogramme category, Marlar Win in the women’s 54-kilogramme category, Ohnma Soe in the women’s 57-kilogramme category, and Elizabeth Kyein Zahwe in the women’s 60-kilogramme category.
The athletes and officials arrived in Yangon aboard Myanmar Airways International, where they were warmly welcomed and honoured by officials from the Department of Sports and Physical Education, together with parents and relatives. — MNA/KZL
