Fifteen Chinese nationals, who illegally entered Myanmar through border routes after transiting neighbouring countries including Thailand, were arrested yesterday in Myawady, Kayin State. They had been involved in online gambling, online fraud and other criminal activities in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area, particularly around KK Park and Kyaukkhat zone.
Deputy Director U Myint Bhone of Kayin State from the Ministry of Immigration and Population and officials from the departments concerned inspected the detainees and collected personal data and records to transfer them to their respective countries as soon as possible.
From 30 January to 19 October 2025, a total of 9,551 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar have been arrested. Among them, 9,337 were deported to their respective countries through Thailand under legal procedures, while 214 more are being well cared for in preparation for repatriation.
The Government continues to take decisive action to identify and arrest foreign nationals involved in online scam centres and those operating behind them, while actively cooperating with other countries to repatriate victims of human trafficking and foreign nationals facing various difficulties. — MNA/KZL
