Patients receiving treatment during the eye surgery programme led by Dr Than Min Htut.
Dr Than Min Htut, Medical Superintendent of Pyinmana Sangha Hospital, announced that they are expanding eye surgery services to the Myitnge Railway Hospital, in addition to the existing Pyinmana Sangha Hospital and Myaungmya Hospital, with the goal of performing 1,000 eye surgeries in 2026 using donor contributions.
Dr Than Min Htut shared via his social media page that this initiative has already exceeded 500 patients and they began eye services at the Myitnge Railway Hospital, the third facility, on 28 June.
At that hospital, eye examinations and surgeries are conducted every weekend. Outpatients are examined every Sunday, and the surgeries for those patients are performed the following Saturday. As of 5 July, they have examined 181 outpatients, successfully performing surgeries on 31 patients with cataracts.
Therefore, eye patients in the vicinity of Mandalay and Sagaing who wish to register for treatment can contact Dr Zaw Nan Wai, Medical Superintendent at 09 979 20 29 29. Those who wish to donate to the eye care initiative can contribute at a rate of 200,000 kyats per eye by contacting Dr Than Min Htut via KPay at 09 788 20 26 02.
