The information was released on seizures of related accessories used in telecom fraud, online gambling and drug processing in Hsipaw and Mongyai townships in Shan State (North) on 9, 10 and 11 January 2026, and the raids on 10 and 11 January uncovered three major drug production bases.
In connection with the seizures, combined security forces continued aerial and ground intelligence and area-clearing operations. At 2:30 pm yesterday, suspicious structures used for drug manufacturing were discovered about 34 kilometres northwest of Mongyai in northern Shan State, about 14 kilometres northeast of Narlin village, and about 2.5 kilometres north of a previously seized major drug production site. The security forces seized the items used in drug production such as 3,500 blue containers and 507 steel barrels containing acids (still examining) 243 gas cylinders, two generators, nine tablet-pressing machines, one factory warehouse suspected to be producing Happy Water, 50 tablet-drying trays, 12 huts, seven warehouses storing acid containers, one hut used for drug production equipped with glass condensers, three warehouses, two warehouses storing raw materials for drug production, and two ration warehouses.
Seized drugs will be examined by the combined teams, including experts, and transferred to relevant departments, and systematically destroyed through incineration or demolition. As there may still be additional suspicious drug-manufacturing sites in the surrounding area, security measures will be continuously carried out. Those involved in drug cases will also be thoroughly identified and effectively prosecuted. — MNA/KTZH
