The joint Mekong River Patrol by Myanmar, China, Laos, and Thailand is in action.
The Chinese Embassy to Myanmar has announced that the 166th Joint Mekong River Patrol conducted by Myanmar, China, Laos, and Thailand as part of their law enforcement cooperation has been completed.
This latest joint patrol lasted for 12 days, focusing primarily on combatting drug-related crimes. During the operation, authorities also cracked down on cross-border offences such as online fraud and gambling, illegal border gambling activities, counterfeiting, and human trafficking.
Operating under the theme “No Borders in Drug Elimination – Work Together to Eradicate Drug Threats”, the patrol involved six law enforcement vessels and 106 officers from the four countries.
Additionally, a multilateral information-sharing meeting was held in Houayxay, Laos, where agreements were reached to strengthen cooperation. Joint training exercises were also carried out involving China, Laos, and Myanmar to enhance practical coordination in operations. — ASH/GNLM
