Rabat – Police in Guelmim arrested four young men suspected of carrying out a violent robbery against a member of the public forces, after a video of the assault circulated widely online.

The arrests took place over Sunday and Monday following a rapid investigation led by the judicial police. 

The suspects, aged between 18 and 21, allegedly intercepted the victim in the early hours of Sunday.

According to a security source, the group attacked the officer using a bladed weapon before taking his belongings. 

The footage of the incident, shared on social media, brought the case into the public eye and prompted swift action from authorities.

Police identified the individuals involved and detained two suspects on Sunday. Officers arrested the remaining two on Monday after further field operations.

Authorities placed all four suspects in custody as part of the judicial investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. 

Investigators seek to establish the full sequence of events and confirm the extent of each suspect’s involvement.
