KOROR, Palau — About 4,600 Palauans are eligible to receive tax refunds later this month, according to Bureau of Revenue and Taxation Director Elway Ikeda.

Refund distribution is scheduled for Feb. 24–25 at the Palau Community College (PCC) cafeteria.

Director Elway Ikeda of Revenue & Taxation reports on the disbursement dates of the tax refunds as well as the social assistance payments.

The refunds are mandated under the Palau Goods and Services Tax (PGST) Act and are available to Palauan citizen employees based on income levels. Workers earning up to $15,000 annually will receive a refund equal to 10% of their wages and salary tax withheld. Those earning between $15,001 and $30,000 are eligible for refunds of up to $480.

Eligible employees do not need to submit an application. Individuals may claim their refunds by presenting a valid identification card at the PCC cafeteria, provided their employers submitted W-2 statements on time.

Employees seeking refunds for financial donations to nonprofit organizations or tuition expenses must submit the required applications to the Bureau of Revenue and Taxation.

Ikeda also announced that the Senior Citizens social assistance will be distributed March 24–25. The subsidy amount was increased to $600 under the FY 2026 national budget.

To qualify, applicants must be Palauan citizens age 60 or older and not currently employed.

The upcoming disbursements are mandated under the Palau Goods & Services Tax and the FY 2026 Unified Budget and aim to support Palauans in need of social assistance.
