Policy.

The collaborative event brought together a wide range of partners and stakeholders to critically assess the draft policy, focusing on four key outcome areas: economic participation and caregiving; health and wellbeing; leadership and decision-making; and gender mainstreaming.

Workshop participants provided valuable and practical feedback, which will be used to revise the draft and produce the next iteration of the policy. The Bureau of Domestic Affairs continues to welcome additional feedback from the public and stakeholders until the end of November, emphasizing the inclusive nature of this policy development process.

The Division of Gender, with support from the Asian Development Bank, received expert guidance throughout the validation workshop. The consultant supporting the Division with revisiting and renewing the policy, emphasized the importance of integrating culturally sensitive gender equity strategies tailored to Palau’s unique social context.

The workshop also highlighted the need to strengthen accountability mechanisms to ensure effective policy implementation and monitor progress. Additionally, she advocated for embedding gender perspectives across diverse sectors, including disaster risk management  and social services, to address disparities comprehensively.

This validation workshop demonstrates Palau’s ongoing commitment for gender  mainstreaming through a participatory and evidence-based policy process, aligning with both  national priorities and international gender frameworks. (PR)
