Koror, Palau – The EKEI Women’s Organization has awarded a $1,500 scholarship grant to Mystique Wilson, a freshman at Palau Community College.
This marks a special recognition from the group, which has been promoting women’s education since its founding in 1984.
The EKEI Women’s Organization is funded through a local market sale held every Thursday at Ernguul Park in Koror.
Each year, the organization selects just one scholarship recipient who meets their criteria. Interested students must apply at the scholarship building in Palau High School, where requirements are provided. The organization carefully reviews applicants based on these criteria before selecting the recipient.
Mystique Wilson was chosen for her excellent academic performance and her major, which focuses on health and science—a field that impressed the EKEI committee. Representatives from EKEI expressed their congratulations and full support to Mystique and her parents, emphasizing the unique honor of being the sole recipient of the scholarship this year. “This scholarship is special because it promotes women’s education and supports only one student annually,” said a representative of the EKEI Women’s Organization.
Displaying her gratitude, Mystique shared, “I am incredibly thankful for the support from the EKEI Women’s Organization. This scholarship means a lot to me and my family.” Looking ahead, Mystique plans to continue her academic journey by enrolling in a college in Hilo, Hawaii, further pursuing her passion in health sciences. Palau Community College and the community celebrate her achievement and wish her success. The EKEI Women’s Organization continues its long-standing commitment to empowering women in Palau through education, fostering future leaders one scholar at a time.
