His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the People’s Republic of China, noting the strong relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
On this occasion, His Excellency the President of the Republic emphasized the depth of the partnership that has bound Mauritania and China for six decades, describing it as an exemplary model of constructive cooperation and mutual support between developing countries, noting the close coordination and solid understanding of this cooperation at all levels.
His Excellency recalled his meeting with His Excellency the President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation last September, where the announcement was made to upgrade relations to the level of strategic partnership. He considered this step the culmination of a long history of trust and respect, and a sincere expression of the shared political will to deepen cooperation and serve the interests of the two friendly peoples contributing to enhancing security, stability, and the well-being of peoples at the international level.
His Excellency the President of the Republic emphasized our country’s commitment to continuing the work with China to build a more prosperous shared future, based on the values of mutual respect and effective partnership.
For his part, His Excellency the President of the People’s Republic of China praised the continuous development of Mauritanian-Chinese relations, noting that the passage of six decades has only strengthened them.
He affirmed his readiness to work with His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to open new horizons for the strategic partnership, for the benefit and well-being of the two peoples.
