The Ministers of Defense, Retired Persons and Martyrs’ Sons Affairs, Hananna Ould Sidi, and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Yacoub Ould Moyne, together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mohamed Vall Rais Rais, on Tuesday at the Polytechnic Campus in Nouakchott, oversaw the graduation of classes of students from Polytechnic Campus institutions located in the capital.
The Polytechnic’s institutions include the Higher Polytechnic School, the Higher Institute for Statistical Professions, the Higher Institute for Energy Professions, and the Institute of Preparatory Sections of the Grand Schools of Engineers.
The new defenses are made up of 86 engineers and 282 professional bachelor’s degree holders, in addition to 79 graduates of the preparatory departments who succeeded in the national competition for engineers, for a total of 447 graduates.
All these graduates have benefited from a quality training through an integrated approach and a pioneering model that combines the quality of academic and technical education with the excellence of military supervision and the commitment and discipline it guarantees.
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of Defense expressed his joy at sharing with everyone in this edifice, celebrating the graduation of new batches of high engineers and technicians, on whom our country relies to accelerate the pace of national development and enhance its capacities in various fields.
He added that His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazwani, has expressed on several occasions his keen interest in this important scientific edifice.
This is due to his conviction that the wealth of countries and peoples is measured more by the possession of science and technology and creative capabilities than by the size of natural resources, and that no investment contributes to enabling countries and peoples to realize their ambition for development and prosperity more than investing in the formation of highly qualified human resources.
He expressed his pride in the Polytechnic’s approach, the level of its graduates and its effectiveness in forming a new generation of scientific and technical competencies capable of meeting the challenges of national development and keeping pace with the rapid developments in various fields of engineering and technology, and I am thankful and proud of the tremendous efforts exerted by the administrative and educational staff of the Polytechnic.
Addressing the graduates, the Minister of Defense, Retired Affairs and Martyrs’ Children said: “Thanks to the knowledge and skills you have acquired and your spirit of discipline and responsibility, you are now fully prepared to engage in the process of nation-building and contribute to its economic and industrial development.
As I urge you to always remain an example of commitment and efficiency, and to continue to strive to learn, develop and keep pace with the latest developments in your specialties, I renew my commitment that the Ministry of Defense, Retired Affairs and Children of Martyrs will continue its efforts, in accordance with the directives of His Excellency, to ensure that the Polytechnic Complex remains a beacon of science and knowledge and a renewable tributary of national competencies.”
For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a speech on the same occasion that the graduation of these defenses was the fruit of an exceptional qualitative training, combining academic excellence and military discipline, within the framework of an effective and fruitful partnership between the Ministry of Defense, Retired Affairs and Sons of Martyrs and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
He added that this exemplary partnership provided the graduates with a unique opportunity to integrate in a path that combines a solid scientific training with a rigorous professional framework, making them qualified to enter the field with confidence and competence.
Addressing the graduates, he said: “Today, you are entering the world of engineering not as trainees, but as actual contributors to nation building, in vital fields such as industry, infrastructure, energy, defense, and digital transformation. We are confident in your ability to innovate and to represent higher education in general and the Polytechnic in particular in every professional space you will join.
I would like to express my deepest thanks and appreciation to all the educational, military and administrative staff of the Polytechnic, who have actively contributed to the success of this unique model of training.”
He pointed out that the President of the Republic has repeatedly emphasized the importance of investing in minds and in the formation of a new generation of engineers and technicians capable of meeting the challenges of development, keeping pace with the rapid development of science and technology, and strengthening national sovereignty in the fields of technology and innovation.
In response to his lofty directives, the government of Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay has been keen to provide all means of support and care to the Polytechnic, through successive subscriptions to the most distinguished national talents, the adoption of the necessary texts and reforms to improve the management of the institution, increase the effectiveness of prestigious international competitions, and the opening of an excellence center to localize its scientific staff.
In his speech on the occasion, the Polytechnic Campus Commander, Colonel Engineer Outhman Bakar Aswaid Ahmed, explained that this great achievement would not have been possible without the continuous support provided by the Ministry of Defense, Retired Affairs and Martyrs’ Children, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the strong and constant accompaniment allocated by the General Staff Command to the development of this distinguished scientific edifice.
He also expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Polytechnic’s partners from various national and international institutions for their good cooperation and reception of the student trainees who were incubated in professional environments alternating with periods of academic training and military framing in the Polytechnic’s institutions.
Addressing the graduates, he said: “Your skills and scientific knowledge will be a driving force and a lever to develop our infrastructure and industries, you are the future of this country and will play a decisive role in achieving its progress and prosperity.
Graduates, you are now beyond the stage of study, and you are on the threshold of entering professional life, and you will certainly face new challenges and exciting opportunities in the engineering field, so I ask you to do your best to develop your skills and keep up with modern technologies, and you must be ready to constantly adapt, innovate and create in a rapidly changing world.
I would also like to remind you that an engineer is not just a salaried employee, but a role model for generations and a designer and builder of institutions that provide employment and renewable job opportunities.
The noble work you will do, God willing, will affect people’s lives and safety. I call on you to take this responsibility seriously and sincerely and to practice your work with high ethics and great respect for professional standards.
We have been keen to provide you with the best training conditions, through modern scientific programs, high-level framing, and permanent coordination between academic and military bodies, in accordance with the supreme directives of the state to make education and training a pillar of development and the building of a modern state.
The spokesman for the professors, Mr. Ahmed Sajjad, explained that the concerted efforts of the relevant ministerial sectors, the General Staff of the armies and the teaching and training staff made it possible to achieve this great achievement.
