Taiwan backs RMI projects – The Marshall Islands Journal

Taiwan Embassy Chargé Hank C.C. Liu hands a check for $7.8 million to Foreign Minister Kalani Kaneko and Acting Finance Secretary Sana Anien.

Taiwan Chargé d’Affaires Hank C.C. Liu presented a check in the amount of $7,819,658 to Foreign Minister Kalani Kaneko and Acting Secretary of Finance Ministry Sana Anien at Minister Kaneko’s office on November 12.

The funding is for Capital Projects support for fiscal year 2025 under the annual financial assistance package from the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the government of the RMI.

This year Taiwan through these annual grants funds 15 development projects, including outer islands community development, Kwajalein community development, Majuro development, seawalls, neighboring islands economic development, neighboring islands airports, runways, and road improvements, Nitijela and ICC maintenance, agriculture cooperation projects, medical upgrade, disaster management, and infrastructure maintenance.

At the ceremony, Chargé Liu reaffirmed Taiwan’s commitment to working closely with the RMI government to promote all cooperation projects between the RMI and Taiwan.

On behalf of the RMI government, Minister Kaneko expressed his appreciation to Taiwan government for its enduring support to the Marshall Islands in RMI’s sustainable development, and reiterated to strengthen its partnerships with Taiwan on all fronts.

The presentation was witnessed by President Hilda Heine, Cabinet members, officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and staff from the Taiwan Embassy.
