President Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr. departed with a delegation to Australia this past Saturday.

The President and her delegation is making an official visit to Australia, her first since taking office two years ago.

She met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Monday this week.

During the visit, President Heine engaged in high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across shared priorities, including development partnership, regional security, climate action, and people-to-people ties.

“The official visit reflects the RMI’s commitment to deepening its long-standing relationship with Australia as a key regional partner,” said the President’s Office in a social media post.

The President is joined by Foreign Minister Kalani Kaneko; Nitijela Members Bruce Bilimon, Maloelap, and Sonny Milne, Jaluit; Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific Junior Aini; Chief of Staff Emma Kabua-Tibon; and officials from the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

While President Heine is on official travel, Minister of Finance, Banking and Postal Services David Paul is Acting President.
